Event Description
Mark your calendar for live jazz at the High, hosted by Jamal Ahmad from Jazz 91.9 WCLK, Atlanta’s jazz station! On the third Friday of every month, you’ll enjoy music, drinks, and art. Each month will feature a different style of jazz, from straight ahead to free jazz, bebop to swing, and more.
October features the music of Dashill Smith.
About Dashill Smith
Dashill Smith is a trumpeter, singer, songwriter, composer, and lyricist who has graced many stages during his career. He has performed with legends including Roy Ayers as well as James Brown band alumni Bernard Purdie, Jabo Starks, Fred Wesley, and Clyde Stubblefield. Smith has also shared stages with the likes of the Brand New Heavies, Outkast, Les Nubians, Dionne Farris, Roy Hargrove, Angie Stone, and Common. He recently appeared in the Emmy Award–winning film Bessie, starring Queen Latifah. He regularly performs with Mausiki Scales and the Common Ground Collective, Russell Gunn’s Royal Krunk Jazz Orkestra, and Kebbi Williams’s Wolf Pack. Smith currently leads his band NewKleer, a musical ensemble that combines jazz improvisation, hip-hop, funk, and soul to create an edgy and invigorating blend of mind-bending, body-moving music.
