Northern Lights Part 1: The Sibelius Violin Concerto
At one time, Russian censors banned Finlandia. But they were hopelessly ineffective at preventing people from playing it. This catchy little anthem became a rallying cry for patriots, galvanizing the Finns’ struggle for independence.
Experience the bracing sonorities of Jean Sibelius when Thomas Søndergård returns to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to explore this bewitching symphonic legacy. Rising star violinist Blake Pouliot makes his ASO debut.
