August Frequency Friday: 80s Night
Turn up the volume at the High with great music, signature drinks, and our reimagined galleries on the first Friday of every month. Our galleries stay open late for special tours, drawing demonstrations, live music, and featured guests. It’s happy hour meets art party from 6 to 9 p.m.
August Frequency Friday
We’re hitting rewind at Frequency Friday! Dust off your acid-washed jeans because we’re throwing it back to the 1980s on August 2! Enjoy a Millionaire cocktail inspired by Max Makes a Millionwhile grooving to the sounds of DJ Ree de la Vega at our after-work art party.
What’s happening:
- Dance to your favorite ’80s hits curated by DJ Ree de la Vega. Are you team AC/DC or Duran Duran?
- Feel like a million bucks with our featured cocktail, the Millionaire, inspired by the Alliance Theatre’s play Max Makes a Million, based on the work of artist Maira Kalman.
- Get lost in New York while never leaving Atlanta during tours of The Pursuit of Everything: Maira Kalman’s Books for Children.
- Draw like the rad artists in our collection with instruction from Georgia State University drawing instructor Michael Tolley. August’s drawing focus is portraiture.
- Take a chill pill and slow down in our galleries with docent-led tours.
Exhibitions on view during Frequency Friday:
The Pursuit of Everything: Maira Kalman’s Books for Children
Strange Light: The Photography of Clarence John Laughlin
Supple Means of Connection
Hand to Hand: Southern Craft of the 19th Century
